Virginia Heffernan, In Denial

“(not a relative)”

The New York Times TV critic Virginia Heffernan denying any relation between herself and a fictional character, Doug Heffernan, the leading man in the CBS sitcom, “The King of Queens.” Ms. Heffernan insists the show – starring actor Kevin James as Doug – is a fine one. But the Times has apparently really toughened up its rules on making shout-outs to family in print.
